Our spirit of invention and discovery is stimulated by low-carbon support structures that are efficient in terms of resources and optimised with regard to the use of non-renewable primary energy. We develop new construction methods or reinterpret traditional ways of building, always in accordance with the applicable regulations. For new and reinterpreted constructions, fire tests must be carried out to obtain approval in case of fire.
For one office building, ZPF Ingenieure developed a slab made of wood and rammed clay, which can be produced in a carbon-neutral way, fully composted and recycled. At the same time, it meets all requirements regarding structural safety, structural physics and fire protection. In October 2020, a slab element was subjected to a fire resistance test in the IBS Linz GmbH testing laboratory and approved with a rating of REI 60.
